MEET THE HOST
I’m Eve (they/them), and I have the pleasure of finding new local music every week. I love the NYC music scene and I want to promote everything I find!
I run everything having to do with Brooklyn Buzz, and my voice is the one you hear on-air! I also work at the WPIR station when i’m not working on my own show.
This is my final year at WPIR and I’m getting ready to swap the campus studio for something in the NYC music scene myself — hit me up if you’ve got leads!

At the time of playing MOP on-air, this album had come out only a week before! Being their first full-length album, which is endlessly exciting. This tune is my personal favorite off of the album. I NEED to see these guys live, partly because their long-sleeve shirt merch looks soooo cool. Make sure to check out this whole debut album!

With cover art borrowing the haunting “The Unicorn Crosses a Stream” painting, this single eerily tells a story of betrayal and cruelty.

One Hand ~ Hiding Places
This song is from another album that was freshly released when I was able to play it on-air, and I had a difficult time picking just one song from this LP to feature because it is fantastic from beginning to end. Hiding Places recently announced a European tour, which is so exciting! Have a blast guys. All of you readers should check out Personal Altar, their I-SPY videogame, too if you’re looking for local unique art! Or even if you’re not looking, you should still check it out.
Close to Heaven ~ Violet Stanza
I chose to play this song when I did because Violet Stanza had a show with Debbie Dopamine, Shadow Monster, and Whirlybird, soon after this was on-air. No upcoming shows now unfortunately, but make sure to check out this whole EP! Especially now that it’s Pride Month, I’m pretty sure that means you are obligated to listen. (And obligated to like this post also being made by a trans person, thank you all for supporting BK Buzz!)
Littlefriend ~ tricktheriddle
A vibe switch from the previous song! This song is off of an upcoming album that is going to be released at the beginning of July, which is coming up so quickly! Make sure to give the full album a listen when you can.
⚝And check out Tricktheriddle LIVE on June 20th at Big Queer Street Day!! Playing alongside five other queer bands, listen to Tricktheriddle perform while you shop the queer market and donate to the event, where all net proceeds will be going to the Brooklyn Community Pride Center! It is going to be such a fun day on the street outside Purgatory.
Went out with a bang playing this band you are possibly much more familiar with. Did you know TMBG is NYC-based? Well now you do! And they came out with a fresh album with a whopping 18 songs!! Give the full thing a listen and make sure to dance to Get Down especially.

This tune is older than everything else I played on this day but I wanted to give them a shout out to promote their upcoming show! I was still happy to play this music though because it is so catchy and gritty.
⚝ Sunny Delight will be playing a show TONIGHT alongside Skeeter De Milo and Meow Meow at Econo Lodge. Ask a punk for the address and go see an awesome show!
Beat Up ~ Natalia Catalan
I admittedly don’t play enough pop music on my show, so I was excited to showcase Natalia Catalan’s (almost hyper) pop album Die Without Makeup. At the time I played this on-air, Natalia had a show coming up, but as of right-now Natalia’s only upcoming show is in LA! If you were looking for a reason to vacation to California, you should take advantage of July 8th… And buy the beautiful vinyl record!!
At the time I played this song on-air, it was only the third song released by this wonderful group. I will be posting about this separately soon but they also released a fourth single just this past week titled “Many Times”! Make sure to give their music a listen and keep your eyes and ears out for more to come from The History Of!

Frequent BK BUZZ listeners know that ISTA is no stranger to the radiowaves at WPIR. I was obsessed with their self-titled 2023 album and had been eagerly awaiting their newest album, In Sound to All, so I HAD to play it on-air when it dropped in full. I am excited for the day I can finally see ISTA live!!

Moonmill’s duets are stunningly beautiful. Self-described as ethereal folk pop, Soundbite Landfill is worthy of your full attention, especially moving into the summer season now. I also love to shout out fantastic album art and graphics, so I would love to point out that Moonmill’s whole album aesthetic right now is very beautiful and homey.
Hook Tight on the Angel ~ Aubrey Haddard
I think Aubrey Haddard’s sound is so unique, making eerie vocals and gritty guitar playing sound so beautiful with an expert mixer of acoustical playing and magical musicianship. This song, off of You Think That’s Air You’re Breathing? particularly blew me away. Check out her upcoming group guitar lessons for “Play Like a Girl” in Gardiner on June 17th. Before then she will be playing live in Nashville which is super exciting! Keep your eyes and ears out for everything Aubrey continues to do.
