!! SHOW MOVED TO SATURDAYS THIS SPRING !!

MEET THE HOST

I’m Eve (they/them), and I have the pleasure of finding new local music every week. I love the NYC music scene and I want to promote everything I find!

I run everything having to do with Brooklyn Buzz, and my voice is the one you hear on-air! I also work at the WPIR station when i’m not working on my own show.

This is my final year at WPIR and I’m getting ready to swap the campus studio for something in the NYC music scene myself — hit me up if you’ve got leads!

WHAT YOU MISSED THIS PAST WEEK…

JANUARY 31ST, 2026

Welcome back to the Spring semester! I’m incredibly excited to get back into playing music on-air now that winter break is over, and we had a wide variety of great music to listen to this week. A lot fo this music came out over winter break or are by bands that have an upcoming show!

Seeing as this is my last semester here at WPIR, I thought Solid Goold being the perfect opener! Back when I was really starting to get serious with my show — 2 years ago now! — they were one of the first bands I found that I really fell in love with. At the time, they only had one album out, called Meta Beta, and I played from it multiple weeks in a row. So, you can imagine how extatic I was when they released a song this past week! It is just as good as all the rest, and I can’t wait for what’s more to come <3

CRUSH ~ SOLID GOOLD

Yet another old love for long-time fans of BK Buzz! In the past I’ve played “Rest In Salt” from one of their EPs, but more importantly: They have an LP coming out on February 20th! It’s called ALL MONSTERS and with their reputation, it’ll be fantastic beginning to end. “Shape Of An Angel” is one of the early-released tunes and is hauntingly gorgeous

⚝ They have a show coming up on February 28th at Market Hotel! Us here at Pratt tend to be very familiar with that venue, and it’s a blast! Make sure to check them out at the end of the month.

shape of an angel ~ mx lonely

Reflection ~ Gummy?

Gummy? is another haunting band for me. Maybe it’s the fact that this album cover is kind of uncanny valley and gives me the heebie jeebies… But the grungey vibes and heavy guitar make for a great EP all the way through. This one came out only this past week and is called “Eternity Under Me Is Static.” Make sure to give it a full listen!

SPILL YOUR TIME ~ KatzPascale

As a cello-sax duo, KatzPascale is guaranteed to be unlike your usual listen. But their music is greater and beyond whatever you’re expecting even still. With only a few songs released so far, SPILL YOUR TIME being their second, they’ve reached an elevated and beautiful level of musicianship. After my on-air show, they released their third song, GBTC, which I also highly recommend.

⚝ They have a show at Elsewhere coming up February 17th! I have an inkling that they’ll be a very unique and entertaining live show, and Elsewhere is such a fun venue.

Venus (Live) ~ first president of japan

I’m next-to-never a fan of live albums – don’t ask me why, I’m unsure myself – but this one is an exception because the raw energy of the recorded show can so well be felt when listening to “You Can’t Have Your first president of japan and Eat It Too.” It’s clear they have dedicated fans and charismatic musicians who can put on a great live show.

⚝ They have a show coming up on February 8th at Trans Pecos! Again, their live album proves they can put on a great show so this is definitely one you won’t want to miss!

Laugh With Me ~ Faine

Fresh album alert! This LP, “With Vein, With Letter,” came out at the beginning of WPIR’s winter break hiatus. I have a soft spot for it because any album with an Epilogue (or Introduction or Intermission, for that matter) will always squeeze my heart a little. The people of Faine are always kind enough to reach out and let me know what new things they have coming, so I wanted to play them first thing when I returned :)

Am I Just Bored ~ Granite Garden

This is another band that stands out to me because they seem so lively and engaging live on stage. Lots of swag and energy; they’re addicting to watch. Their self-titled debut album came out last year and I wanted to play it this week in order to shout out their upcoming show!

⚝ They will be playing on February 16th at Ars Nova. I’m admittedly unfamiliar with this venue/organizer but it looks like they have a BUNCH of fantastically curated shows coming up this month.

I get so invested in promoting these smaller local bands that when one of them blows up I tend to miss it! My mom told me about Geese and their huge success recently, so I had to check it out for myself and WOW. Very unique sound, and I have a soft spot for bands that started when the members were still in high school. If you’ve somehow missed them like I have, make sure to check out their newer album, “Getting Killed.”

Cobra ~ Geese

Cure ~ Gnarcissists

YES I’ve been needing a good local rock band to obsess over, and Gnarcissists made that easy for me. This entire self-titled LP is fantastic, it was hard to pick a singular song from it to play. I also recommend “Dr. Ed” and “Counter Strike” off of this album if you want to know my personal tastes.

⚝ They will be playing February 11th at TV Eye! I’m seriously thinking about going to this show, especially since I still haven’t been to TV Eye?? How is that possible?

Kind Kid truly is a kind kid. I’m so glad I’m finally getting to play a tune of theirs after they’ve been kind enough to send me some sneak-peaks. This song is more dramatic and darker than some of the others I’ve heard of theirs, and I really dig it. I can’t wait to hear what they have cooking up for us next!

Into black ~ Kind Kid

What’s That? ~ ZEBEDEE

Sometimes I’ll come across a band and think “how is this the first time I’m hearing them!? They’re everything I like!” That happened for me with ZEBEDEE, and that’s exactly why I love getting to do my radio show. Warning: This song has been stuck in my head for a week BUT I’m not mad in the slightest. The entire album is worth a listen.

⚝ They played a live show on February 1st at Nightclub 101 which I was able to announce on-air but has unfortunately passed now. Keep an eye out for upcoming shows!

Ending today’s show very strong. On-air I went on a tangent about how I pronounce their name “Doctor” but had no idea if that was correct… No matter though, I’ll be spinning this song constantly. The warm, electronic, hypnotic sound is addictive.

⚝ They will be playing on February 11th at Dead Letter No.9 at 63 Grand Street! I’ve never been there but I’ve seen it described as a conversation parlor and that is very intriguing to me. Make sure to check dkTr out live!
